Things to Do the Day Before a Trip
If your kids will be missing school, finalize plans with their teachers.
Alert your credit card companies that you will be traveling. This is especially important if you are traveling internationally.
Check with your cell phone company to see how much data you have left. Add more if you think you’ll need it.
Notify your home security system that you will be away and give them a contact number for your housesitter.
Pay any upcoming bills so you won’t have to worry about it while you are away.
Check the weather and add any extras you may need. (Raincoat, umbrella, more sunscreen.)
Confirm details with your pet sitter if you have one.
Pack your bags. Don’t save this for the day you leave.
Clean out wallet/purse/backpack.
If you are going on a road trip, fill the car with gas.
Take pictures of your credit cards and ID and email the photos to yourself and your spouse.
Set up an email auto-responder letting people know you will be out of the office.
Charge electronics and portable chargers.
Download and print reservation information. You could also take screenshots on your phone.
Get some cash from the bank.
Check bank balances and make sure you have money in the trip account.
Back up your cell phone.
Run through your itinerary.
Confirm your ride to the airport.
Check-In for your flight if traveling by plane.
