This week Angelo and I are going to be talking about three amazing destinations! These include the Dolomites, Ischia, and Austria.
Dolomites, Italy
The Dolomites is a mountain range in northeastern Italy along the border of Austria, Switzerland, and France.
Angelo’s family loves to stay in the Val Gardena area of the Dolomites. This area is in a valley with close proximity to hikes, gondola rides, and ski lifts.
The Dolomites have some of the most beautiful views and magnificent peaks in the world!
This is a great destination for both adventurous and relaxed couples!
Sit back and enjoy the views, or go on hiking adventures!
There are activities for all levels of fitness! You can take short walks, long hikes, or take ski lifts up the mountains.
As you hike through the mountains, there are huts along the way where you can get local, fresh food! It’s the coolest experience!
Hotels in the area are top notch. The people are kind and take great care of their accommodations.
If you and your partner/group enjoy hiking, there are amazing hut-to-hut overnight hikes that you can do! You will want to pre-book these ahead of time.
In the winter, the skiing in the Dolomites is unmatched! And it’s more affordable than you’d think! Angelo pays about $250 for a week pass of skiing.
Angelo recommends booking your Dolomites stay about 6-7 months ahead of time.
Ischia, Italy
Ischia is a town and one of the six comuni on Ischia island, in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
This small island is the perfect destination if you want to experience a quaint, rustic, fisherman's town with the most beautiful houses on the coast.
Everyone always wants to visit Capri, but misses Ischia! Because of this, there are way less tourists, but with amazing views and experiences.
Ischia is known for their natural thermal baths and spas. This is a great option if you are looking for a relaxing couples weekend.
On the side of the island facing Naples, there is a section of the beach that is so hot with thermal heat that people are not allowed to walk there. There is a restaurant on this section of the beach that serves a dish that is slow cooked under the sand!
The city of Forio is on the northwest side of the island. Here you can stay in the most beautiful little villas just above the water. Experience terrace gardens with pools and jacuzzis with gorgeous Mediterranean views.
Angelo recommends spending at least 2-3 nights here, but you coils easily stay longer!
Salzburg and Vienna, Austria
Austria has produced some of the most amazing classical music in the world. This is a great destination to visit if you love music and attending classical music concerts.
The Opera House in Vienna is the main place to watch big musical performances. However, there are lots of other options! Be sure to research what will be performed during your trip.
Attend Sunday Mass in Vienna at St. Stephen’s Cathedral to listen to a beautiful choir at no cost!
If you love The Sound of Music, you need to visit Salzburg! My family and I took a bike tour to all of the movie sites when we were here and it was amazing! All of our kids loved it too.
There are plenty of day trips to take from these cities! You can visit beautiful nearby mountains and lakes.
Austria has so many great places to take nature walks, visit old castles, and view the alps!
