Why is Dubai a great destination for families?
Dubai is very safe, which is great for family vacations.
Dubai is one of the most visited tourist cities because of its unique culture and experiences.
It can be budget-friendly or as expensive as you want it to be.
How much time should I stay in Dubai?
Since Dubai is a long way from the U.S. (where most of you come from), you’ll want to make your journey worth it!
Pelumi recommends staying a minimum of 5 days, but people usually visit for 7-10 days.
Getting to Dubai
Most people from the United States fly directly into the city at Dubai International Airport.
If you are coming from Europe, there are many European-friendly flights that will take you to Abu Dhabi International Airport. From here you can take a direct coach flight to Dubai.
What is the climate like?
The summers are very hot with average temperatures of 106ºF.
The best months to visit (temperature-wise) are late October through March.
Decembers can be a bit chilly.
Family-friendly activities in Dubai
Visit the tallest building building in the world, Burj Khalifa.
Go on a safari through the desert. Pelumi recommends taking the evening safari, as it can get hot during the day. The safari cars will drive you through the desert, and most tours include a performance and a meal.
Shop at the Dubai Mall. There are play areas and so many shops!
Visit the Gold Souk, which is a local market.
Check out Miracle Garden for beautiful and intricate flower displays and designs.
Enjoy Dubai’s city walk.
Dubai fountain has a daily show near the Dubai mall!
Dubai Glow Garden is filled with large light displays.
Global Village is an elaborate shopping, dining, and entertainment complex with different sections representing different countries around the world.
“Cruises” leave from the marina and provide you with a beautiful view of the city from the ocean.
Aquaventure is a HUGE water park that has so many slides and pools. This would be the perfect spot to tire out your kids ;)
Indoor skiing is a super unique experience and a nice break from the heat.
Skydive over the desert!
Take a hot air balloon ride.
Take a day trip to Abu Dhabi.
Dubai Park & Resort is the Middle East’s largest theme park with lots of rides!
Food to expect in Dubai
Typical food is “BBQ” chicken, steak, and fish.
There are also lots of falaffels, hummus, and naan bread.
There are so many restaurant options throughout Dubai!
Where should I stay in Dubai?
If you want to be in an area that’s easily walkable, then downtown is a great option. This is where tourists usually stay. The only downside is that this area is more expensive to stay in.
Another nice spot is by the marina.
Airbnb is also a great option for finding places to stay.
What type of clothes should I pack?
As Dubai is a Muslim country, women may need to wear clothes that don’t show your knees or arms IF you are planning on visiting any mosques or religious buildings.
Besides this, you are free to wear whatever you’d like!
Pelumi suggests packing tank tops, shorts, swim suits, and sandals. Picture a warm beach vacation!
