Favorite Travel Apps to Help Your Family Vacation Be the Best Experience
If you love to travel, you won’t want to miss this episode filled with details on several easy-to-use travel apps. Jak and Lisa Boston from Boston Tribe Travels join Lisa to share the apps they love to use to help plan, document and guide them while they are on their adventures.
iTunes | Spotify | Stitcher | Google Podcasts | Audible
Rome to Rio: Use this as a research tool for finding routes for ways to get around. It gives train, bus, metro, and car routes. Works well in Europe, Egypt, & Asia. Jak and Lisa say to check out the route in the app but then go and book tickets at the source because it’s more expensive to book in the app.
TripIt: This app helps you organize everything you’ve booked for your trip in one place. As you get email confirmations after booking things (flights, hotels, trains, rental cars, etc.) then you forward the emails to your TripIt account. You can see all of your trip details in one place. You can also add Visas and Covid vaccination confirmation too.
This is a free app with a paid upgrade. The Bostons have just used the free/basic part of the app and haven’t needed any paid features.
Trusted House Sitters: Pay one fee per year and it gives you house and pet sitting opportunities all over the world. You can also use the service to find house and pet sitters. No money is exchanged with the people doing the house/petsitting or the people who own the pets/houses.
You can do a web call with the people wanting to connect with you to help vet them.
This is a great way to get to stay in a home without paying a nightly rate.
Lightroom: Edit photos and photo storage. Both the free and premium options offer great tools for editing photos. This is really user-friendly and makes a great difference with photos.
Uber and Grab: These are both car service apps that you can use to arrange rides. Depending on the location, Uber or Grab will be a better option. Try both and see which comes with the best prices and options.
Have these apps on your phone before you travel. Sometimes service for downloading is a challenge in some locations.
Airbnb: Look at the map for the search if you are wanting a specific location. It’s a great way to search. Keep zooming in when you are looking at the mal. If you are staying for a week or more, look for places that offer long-term stay discounts.
Spotify: Wide range of music and podcasts. You can try the free account or splurge for the premium account.
VN Editor: Easy video editor. There are great tutorials right in the app. This helps you create fun videos of your adventures. VideoLeap is a similar app which is also great. There are templates you can use and drop your videos in.
