Packing Prep
Print and use packing lists. This may seem like overkill, but it really simplifies packing. This is especially helpful when you can print a list for each family member and have her/him pack their own things. You can check out and use my free downloadable packing lists!
Fill a travel-only toiletries bag with your favorite bathroom necessities. You can leave this in your suitcase so it’s always ready to go. Here’s a list of what I like to keep in my toiletries bag: nail clippers, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, travel-sized shampoo & conditioner, bandaids, dental floss, deodorant, contact lenses, and lotion. Everything is less than 3.2 ounces so it’s ready to fly.
Keep packing cubes and travel tote packed inside of your suitcase. When it’s time to pack, you have all of your packing items together and in one place.
Do laundry two days before your trip. Put all of the clothes away. When it’s time to pack, everything you need will be clean and ready to load into your suitcase.
Think about what you cannot live without on your trip and pack those items. Resist putting anything in your bags that is a “just in case” item.
There you have it! A few things you can do as you prepare to pack for a trip.
