I suggest getting a notebook or creating a note on your phone where you can make a list of any activities that sound good to you. Once you have compiled the entire list, you can start to prioritize your must-do activities.
Start with Pinterest. This is a fantastic search engine where you can discover articles written by travel bloggers and casual family travelers. Real-life advice and hidden gems can be discovered.
Do a Google Search. This is a great way to see top 10 lists for your destination. There is a reason those activities are in the top 10! Be sure to read through the list and see what stands out to you and something interesting to do.
Ask Friends in Person and on Facebook. Your friends can be a great resource if they have already visited the destination you are planning to visit. They can tell you about the cute little bakery they discovered and you can learn about some off-the-beaten path options.
Head to YouTube. Check out videos for things to do at your destination. This is a great way to see what it looks like in your destination and get a feel for the vibe of the place.
Library. This might seem outdated but a visit to the library travel section could be a fun field trip. You don’t even need to check out a book. Just use the books to help you add to your list of ideas.
Instagram. Most cities have an Instagram account. Type visit _____ in the IG search and discover what’s out there for your destination. Check out the hashtags in the city’s account and click on those to discover what others are posting while they are in that city.
Check out Airbnb Experiences. These are activities lead by locals who offer a wide range of options from cooking classes to photography walks to hikes.
Groupon. Look for deals and discounts for the city you want to visit. Not only might you be introduced to some new activities, but you can also save money on them!
