10 of My Favorite Books from 2024

I love to read while traveling! And at the beginning of every year, I love to do my book roundup from the previous year! Here are 5 fiction and 5 non-fiction books that I loved from 2024!

Non-Fiction

  • Let Them by Mel Robbins

    • This book is all about letting others think what they want to think, and not letting that dictate how you act.

    • You do what is best for YOU in your life!

    • This book also talks about making new friends as adults and starting a business.

  • The Small and The Mighty by Sharon McMahon

    • This book is written by Sharon from @sharonsaysso

    • The book is a collection of people from American history who made an impact on our country, but don’t necessarily get the credit.

    • The audiobook is fantastic and read by Sharon!

  • The Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty by Patrick Radden Keefe

    • This book discusses the Sackler family and how they built their pharmaceutical empire.

    • This empire has a dark and heartbreaking backstory. This book makes us more aware of the drug industry and their motives.

  • The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown

    • This book has 10 guidelines to help you put your whole heart into your life.

    • It also discusses the things you CAN control in your life versus what you can’t. 

    • It’s an easy and super enjoyable read!

  • Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown

    • Brown discusses 87 emotions and goes into WHY you might be feeling it.

    • Discusses how our minds work and lead us from one emotion to another.

    • You have the power to control your emotions!

Fiction

  • The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali

    • This book is so beautiful. It follows the story of two girls over 70 years who become best friends as young children.

    • It discusses the turmoil in Iran and the lives of those living in different levels of poverty.

    • Amazing character development!

  • All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker

    • This was a heavy but moving read. This thriller/mystery spans decades and dives into how one’s childhood impacts their lives.

    • This story really emphasizes friendship and dedication.

    • Trigger warning: missing kids and serial killer.

  • The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston

    • This book follows the story of a girl named Clementine and her magical apartment. Suddenly there is a man in her apartment and they are living lives 7 years apart…

    • I don’t want to spoil it! That’s all I’m going to say. But it was so cute!

  • The Women by Kristen Hananh

    • This heavier read follows stories of women during the Vietnam War.

    • It is so moving and really sheds light on the impact that women made during the war.

    • This is a great option if you like historical fiction.

  • The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center

    • A screenwriter gets her big break to write a movie with a well known screenwriter who she admires.

    • Funny, relatable, and clever banter between characters.

    • Super fun and cute story!
