There are so many great things to do with your family in the Los Angeles area. Our family has been able to visit this area many times and here are our top 8 suggestions for you to try out with your family.
Visit The Broad Museum
This art museum is filled with contemporary art from the 1950s to present
General admission is free
Closed on Mondays
Try to get tickets to the Infinity Mirror Room (free) - you get 1 minute in the room
Tickets open on the last Wednesday of the month for the following month at 10 am
Great variety of general art. A couple of favorite artists on display are Andy Warhol & Roy Lichtenstein.
Rotating collections so you can return and see different art.
When you go to the bathroom downstairs, look for the art vault where they store the pieces in their collection that are not currently on display.
There are some special exhibitions that are at an additional cost.
See a Show at the Hollywood Bowl
The Hollywood Bowl is a unique venue to see a show.
A few fun shows coming in 2023: 4th of July Spectacular with The Beach Boys (Half off for kids 12 and under), Sound of Music Sing-a-long, Matchbox Twenty, Reba McIntire, and Janet Jackson.
If you want food, you can pre-order Box seat dinners (delivered to seats) or picnic meals (picked up) Entrees
Picnic ranges from $40 to 52
Or bring in your own food!
Parking: very limited. Nearby lots are available but have cash and plan to walk a bit.
Visit The Getty
Visit the Getty
The Getty has two locations—one in the hills, one near the ocean
The Getty Center, located in Brentwood, showcases European art amid modern architecture and bird's-eye views of Los Angeles.
The Getty Villa Museum lies along the coast and displays ancient Greek and Roman art in a recreated Roman house.
Free admission to both museums
Currently, a timed reserved ticket is required
Enjoy Time at the Huntington
The Huntington is a library, garden, and art museum!
Adults are $25, Kids 4 - 11 $13, and under 4 are free
Reservations are required on weekends
Museum: British, American, Asian, and European art. More than 45,000 pieces.
Library: 11 million items. Researchers come from all over the world to this library
Botanical Gardens: Desert Gardens, and Chinese + Japanese Gardens were highlights.
Also a rose garden, lily ponds, Jungle Garden, Palm Garden, Shakespeare Garden, Sculpture Garden, and an herb garden.
Universal Studios Hollywood
Universal Studios Hollywood is much smaller that the US in Florida but still a fun way to spend a day.
Harry Potter area is a highlight.

Secret Life of Pets was a surprisingly fun ride.

Check Out Griffith Observatory
The Griffith Observatory is a science museum with an observatory and planetarium shows.
Great views of the Hollywood Sign
Hit Up a Dodgers Game
Take me out to the ballgame! Even if you aren’t a big baseball fan, this is a fun family activity.
Plan extra time for packing because it can get backed up coming into the stadium parking lot.
Hike to the Hollywood Sign
The shortest hike to the Hollywood Sign is along the Burbank Trail, a three-mile out-and-back hike. Even though it’s the shortest route, it's also the most challenging with two peaks to scale.
There is a paved route up Mt. Lee Drive is the easiest trail to get behind the Hollywood Sign, if slightly longer.
