Food and travel go together like peanut butter and jelly! Favorite Breakfast Spots in Salt Lake City
Tulie Bakery. Do not miss this. We love their croissants, sticky buns, and quiche. We also love their olive oil cake. This matches the deliciousness of bakeries we have visited in Paris.
Sweet Lake. They are known for their fresh limeades (raspberry limeade is our favorite!) and their amazing biscuits. They use lots of local vendors, many organic products, and things are made from scratch. Try the Hoss which is a biscuit sandwich with fried chick, bacon, an egg, and fresh sausage gravy. They have 3 locations: Salt Lake, Draper, and American Fork, Utah.
Our Favorite Lunch & Dinner Restaurants in Salt Lake City
Moochies. We’ve been going here for years for fantastic meatball subs and cheesesteaks. Oh! The fries and fry sauce as a must-order too. There are three locations. We have only visited the one near downtown.
Pretty Bird. This place is a recent discovery and we will definitely be making a return visit on a future trip to Salt Lake. Their menu is very simple with chicken sandwiches and chicken tenders along with a few sides. We recommend the crinkle cut fries with the prettybird dipping sauce. The portions are extremely generous and we recommend sharing. You get to pick the heat on your chicken from mild to super hot. How spicy are you?
Red Iguana. Really great Mexican food where mole is the star. They have many mole options that pair really well with enchiladas, meat and combo plates. They will bring samples of the mole for you to try if you aren’t sure which one to order. Moles are a sauce mixed with a bunch of delicious ingredients. Also try their fresh guacamole. You can make a reservation on their website and we recommend this since there is usually a wait.
Swaddee Thai. This was everything we hoped a Thai place would be. The coconut soup and pineapple fried rice were especially great. But the curries, Pad Thai, and the Tiger Prawn the Garlic Noodles and also really great. Go for lunch because they have a great lunch special. You get two entrees, rice, salad, and a spring roll.
Cubby’s. This is a causal order at the counter restaurant that serves local & organic salads, burgers, sandwiches, and breakfast. We love the Kale & Wild Rice Salad, Beet & Goat Cheese Salad, the burger, and the bean burger. Plus, you have to try the sweet potato fries with fry sauce! There are multiple locations in the Salt Lake City area.
Favorite Dessert Places in Salt Lake City
Ruby Snap. We were introduced to this great cookie shop 7 years ago and we’ve returned many times to enjoy the unique variety of cookie flavors. They have a lot of unique flavors. (Click the shop link to check them out!) They are very generous with samples and will give you as many as you’d like. Each simply is about 1/4 of a cookie! If you can’t make it to Salt Lake, they will ship cookies to you.
Dolcetti Gelato. Not only Is the gelato so delicious, the decor is amazing too. Every surface is covered inside this restaurant with little figurines or collectables. There is so much to see. Plus you can sample all of the gelato you’d like. They have traditional flavors along with some unique ones like coconut sticky rice, lavender, and rose. They have 40 flavors that they rotate so you can try a new flavor on every visit!
There’s so much to love about the food scene in Salt Lake. We know there are so many places to eat and we can’t wait for a return trip where we can enjoy some of these favorite places and then discover a few more to add to our list.
