Tips on How to Travel Like a Local with Your Family
Do you love to travel to new countries with your family? This week AB joins us to talk about immersion travel and tips to customize travel for your family.
Tips for Immersive Travel
Ask the locals how you can be a better tourist in their town
Talk to the locals and make friends
Find the hidden gems (restaurants, beaches, hang out areas, etc.) from the locals
Find out what the local schools or communities need and bring supplies for them
Research any festivals or events that are happening while you are visiting a city
Educate yourself on the area before you visit (know their holidays, food, geography, etc.)
Balanced Travel
AB runs a company called Balanced Travel. At her company, she seeks out small businesses and local spots in different cities that you should visit.
On her Instagram, you can reach out to her and she will help you connect with locals wherever you are traveling. This allows you to find local things to do in whatever areas you visit.
What has AB experienced because of immersive travel?
Connected with artists at a local art festival
Volunteered with locals and got to know them
While in Tuscany, AB asked a waitress where she should stay for the night, and she got them connected with a new bed and breakfast. AB is still friends with the family that hosted them decades later.
Go to grocery stores and experience the local food. She has now been able to share where these small businesses are for others to enjoy.
